IX Hosting Issues
We are moving our servers, during the next few days to as much as a week some of our sites may be temporarily unavailable. Rest assured that these are temporary issues, depending on propagation schedules anywhere from 12 to as much as 72 hours. This may or may not occur once or twice on each domain names of the site, currently 15 separate domains, each leading to separate sections.
Please bear with us as we attempt to unravel the mess left by the incompetent, ignorant, sausage heads, claiming to be "Windows Administrators" at the Web Hosting farce of IX Web hosting. Theses Anal Jack-wads have kept this site 0ffline, Screwed up and keep replacing new and current pages with months old copies.
So far, in the last five months, they have claimed to replace a "Defective IDE drive" with new Seagate RAID System on 6, six, separate occasions. Each time claiming that "the New RAID System will prevent the outage and data corruption, experienced recently", yet a couple of weeks later we will be once again off-line, restored several hours or a couple of days later with weeks to months old data with the same story, "the New RAID System will prevent the outage and data corruption, experienced recently".
So far we have been lied to so many times about so many things, that I do not believe that anyone at IX Web Hosting has a clue what the truth is or what a Windows Server really is. Our page counters have been re-set to 0, zero, so many times, that it may take a couple of months to get an accurate count.
I have personally edited a page, saved it, checked it with a browser live to verify the edit, gone to lunch, and upon returning, find a two weeks old copy of the page in place of the one I just edited an hour earlier. IX Web Hosting's support personnel's response to the issue was, "Are you really sure you saved the page. Sometimes people forget to save things!". Having been in this business for 25+ years, I have a pretty good idea when a page I am looking at, working on, and backing up to my server here in my office, is saved or not. 1. If the page had not been saved it would not have displayed, with the edits in a browser, time-stamped, live and in living color, 2. backed up to my server here including the edits, and again time stamped with the edits, 3. flagged in FrontPage as saved and published!!! Funny how that little star following the file name in the FrontPage editor works, ain't it.
We have yet to receive the "Credit for Downtime" promised in February, promised again for downtime in March, promised again for downtime in May, in June and again in July. Each time the "Windows Administrator was 'in the process of replacing the defective IDE drive with a new RAID drive system to prevent last weeks downtime from happening again. And to prevent the 'data Corruption' the back-up systems have been replaced as well'".
Be Fore-warned IX, attempts to "Hi-Jack" these domains as you did in July and August with the other account we managed, Will Be Met with Legal Action!!!
We have overpaid for services not yet rendered, not considering the supposed credits or downtime guarantee that you have obviously chosen Not To Honor!!

Comments: After reading several reviews we switched to IXWebhosting.
Since then, we have had nothing but problems with the server being down and
our emails not working properly. When you try to get an answer, they send
you in circles. Live chat says submit a ticket, when you submit a ticket
they tell you to use Live Chat. We are in the process of looking for a new
hosting company. I would not recommend IXWebhosting to anyone.

Comments: IXWebHosting - If there`s worse, I`m surprised. My initial
experience with IXWebHosting was fine. I had maybe 1 or 2 technical
questions and they were answered in about one day. The only thing I didn`t
like was their webmail. I am not a fan of the program they provided, so I
installed one that I purchased. It worked great for about 2 weeks and then
suddenly certain email accounts weren`t able to login through it. I posted a
message in the support forums on the vendor`s site for the software and
after some troubleshooting found that the problem most likely was the PHP
build on IX WebHosting. I presented documentation to IXWebHosting supporting
this claim and they just couldn`t find anything wrong. They actually gave up
trying after a month.
[Jul 15, 2004 10:08:48 AM] Q: I
have installed a web-based email script called DWMail. It was running fine
up until a week or two ago. I`m able to connect to certain email accounts
without a problem, but others just won`t work. I thought it might be a
problem with the program itself, but now I`m not so sure. I posted a message
on the support forum for DWMail and this is what I was told:
It sounds
like your installation of PHP is segfaulting.... this is a problem directly
with PHP itself (and we`ve sometimes seen with the imap_open function). See
www.dominion-web.com/product...ay&question=206 for more information. PHP
segfaulting with the imap function is usually down to either a bad IMAP
c-client installation or a bad PHP installation. (Note PHP can work
absolutely fine until you come across one of the badly installed functions
at which point it will segfault).
Dominion Web www.dominion-web.com/ -
I tried the script and entered the information
for one of the accounts that wouldn`t work and it connected fine, suggesting
that there may be a segmentation fault, according to: www.dominion-web.com/products/knowledgebase/index.php?option=display&question=206
Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. :) Thank you,
Christopher Zeman

you for the word to support. There is production version of IMAP c-client
installed and it seems cannot cause such problem. Please ask dwmail vendors
for further reasearch. Should you have any further questions, please do not

Thank you for the word to support. I see that DWMail should work 100% on

Unfortunately I`ve not found any problem with php/imap c-client itself. It
connecting to mail server without any problem, fetching headers, messages
etc. Why dwmail can`t do the same? Since testing methods, provided by DWMail
wasn`t revealed anything - I`m giving up.

That's
when I decided to just transfer to a different hosting company. I signed up
for one that charged my credit card and then told me my account would be
setup shortly. After about half an hour, there was a message saying there
was an error setting up my account and to contact tech support and they
would fix the problem right away. I called tech support and they told me the
domain I was trying to setup on their servers was already on their servers.
I told them that was unlikely unless they were the same company as
IXWebHosting. They told me that was a whole different company altogether.
So, I was told to use a contact form on their web site to cancel and request
a refund. A day or two later, still waiting for the refund, I receive a
phone call from IXWebHosting asking me about my new account setup. I told
her what happened and she said that both hosting companies are owned by the
same parent company. She then refunded my credit card. Finally, I come
across a hosting company that looks great, so I sign up and transfer
everything over. There`s just one thing left....I used one of my free domain
registrations at IXWebHosting and now want the domain unlocked so I may
transfer the domain registration to the registrar that handles my other
domain registrations.
Here`s the trouble ticket emails for this one:

10:44:36 AM] Q: RE: Reply: Canceling Account - Need Domain #81658 I hope
this message finally gets to a tech support representative who has the
knowledge to actually be one. If I have, I apologize for what you are about
to read, but I am sick of dealing with people in your department who
shouldn't be in their position. I AM NOT TRYING TO CHANGE THE NAMESERVERS!!!
I ALREADY DID THAT!!! I have already gotten 2, I repeat TWO responses
talking about nameservers!!! This is why I am canceling my account. You
just can`t get anywhere with the tech support department. Now, here we
go...... I registered ----------.com through IXWebHosting. That makes
IXWebHosting the DOMAIN REGISTRAR . Once you understand that, you`re ready
for our next concept.... DOMAIN TRANSFER . I don`t want IXWebHosting to be
the DOMAIN REGISTRAR anymore, so I want to perform a DOMAIN TRANSFER and
make someone else the DOMAIN REGISTRAR . In order for me to do this, I need
the REGISTRAR-LOCK status to be removed so I may finally complete the
transfer. If you don`t understand this, please refer to the following
website: www.baremetal.com/domains/domain_faq.html Now, I hope you
understand I'm not trying to change nameservers. I already did that. I want
to change registrars and completely sever my ties to IXWebHosting. If I am
not able to complete this by the time my current billing cycle is over and
you guys charge my credit card for another cycle, I will do a charge-back
and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Thank you, Christopher
Zeman

and explian what exactly you need to be done instead of dropping the pieces
of your thoughts. To UNLOCK your domain, please contact our billing
department Thank you very much for your cooperation and telling where is the

At this point, I
called the billing department who told me I needed to fill out a contact
form on their web site for this to take place. I was also instructed to also
put the tech support emails from above in the form so they may be forwarded

I couldn't believe it! I called again and requested to talk to a supervisor.
He was not helpful. He told me to submit the form again and put it to his
attention. I told him I was done with their contact form because it doesn't
get me anywhere and that he needs to take care of it over the phone. He then
told me that they needed my request in writing. He was looking at the ticket
on his computer while we were talking!!! I told him he already had it in
writing. He told me that he wasn't going to sit there and argue with me and
that I had two choices..... submit the form again or do it the old fashioned
way. What did he mean by that? So I submitted the form again and still
haven't heard anything a day later.
That's alright, though. I did a search
on Google for `IXwebhosting complaint` and found a ton! I found out I was
far from being the only person who had the same trouble with them and found
out what I needed to do to get my domain unlocked. I made a telephone call
to eNom, the company IX WebHosting registers domain names through, and
explained to them the situation. After they verified my identity they
unlocked the domain name. The next day I received an email from IX
WebHosting reminding me that my billing cycle will be renewed in two weeks.
lol As soon as the domain transfer is complete, which should only be a
couple days or so, I'll be canceling my service with them. Here's the
bottom line: If you're looking for a reliable web host that respects their
customers and gives you a good deal, stay away from IX Web Hosting or anyone
owned by them or their parent company.
